Confession time: I'm utterly obsessed with family histories. I've always loved listening to family tales. Antiques whisper secrets of ages past. Imagine the stories that old dresser could tell? It's more than a hobby, it's a calling. Cue my grandmothers, genealogy enthusiasts, and just like that, I was hooked. I dove into my own family roots as a teen and the journey hasn't stopped.
Fun fact: A 2010 Emory University study revealed kids who know their family history have a higher sense of identity and emotional well-being. Trust me, that magic applies to adults too. My business sprouted from this passion to guide others to their ancestors, thus the name Ancestry Consulting by Aimee.
Sitting in a library finding an amazing record makes my day. Yep. I'm a bit strange. But can you feel my passion?
Please don't crunch the numbers, but I've been on this family history journey for forty years. During the whirlwind of kids, I remembered "to everything there is a season" and as my season changed, I was able to rediscover my passion and even began helping others. For a decade now, I've learned and grown while developing my chosen craft, culminating in over 250 client projects and mentoring more than 50 wonderful genealogists! I love my job!
Embarking on my YouTube adventure was encouraged by my son. At first, I was intimidated and overwhelmed; but, it's a joy to offer guidance to genealogy enthusiasts. Plus it doesn't cost them a penny, which was part of my mission. I wanted to help people find their ancestors. An unexpected benefit to me? It has connected me to an extraordinary family history community which I treasure.
My expertise is deeply rooted in early American history, but I'm dedicated to uncovering the narratives of the enslaved and it's a privilege to connect family through DNA. My attention to detail comes in handy when working on client reports and I am a efficient worker, giving clients lots of bang for their buck.
I often say, "In genealogy, the more you know, the more you know your don't know." I work to mitigate that by regularly participating in national conferences and seizing weekly educational opportunities. This allows me to stay ahead of the latest industry developments and share them with you.
