Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered.

I know little about my family. Can I find my ancestors?

YES! You can! There are many records that are public information that can help you build your family tree. When roadblocks occur, you can turn to DNA testing for help.

I descend from enslaved individuals. I've been told I will never figure out my family tree. Is it impossible?

It is difficult to find the records of those previously enslaved, but it is not always impossible. When you discover things like your enslaved ancestor scrimped and bought their own land, the sense of pride is tremendous.

How do I join Aimee's Crew, see the livestreams, and obtain the free monthly handout?

To join visit my YouTube channel page (https://www.youtube.com/@ancestryaimee), click "Join" and be sure to select "Aimee's Crew." When on my channel page, you will see a "Membership" tab near the top. Click that and you will see member's only posts, including posts with the links to the free monthly handout. There are also notifications of upcoming livestreams. You can alternately click the "Live" tab near the top for a listing of all livestreams.

Are you an employee of Ancestry.com?

I am not an employee of Ancestry.com. I am frequently included in Beta test groups. I do participate in their affiliate program, as well as other affiliate programs such as Amazon and 23 and Me. These programs provide a small commission if you purchase something through my link, but the cost remains the same for you.

My business name is centered on my goal of helping your discover your ancestors.

What sets your coaching apart?

With over 250 completed projects and over 50 coaching clients, I've been around the genealogy block a bit. I make it a point to get some instruction myself once or twice each week. I work to stay on top of industry changes and advances, as well as new record groups. Additionally, I've been a teacher for decades and love helping someone figure things out step by step. You are in good hands with me.

Are the family trees I see on Ancestry or FamilySearch correct?

Some... there are mistakes in the FamilySearch tree (which is a collaborative tree) and there are incorrect trees in Ancestry. My best advice... verify your family tree yourself! You'll learn much more and know it's as correct as possible.
